NJO Brahms nonet
During the Muziekzomer Gelderland from July 29th to August 14th 2022, nine members of the National Youth orchestra of The Netherlands (NJO) performed Serenade no.1 by Johannes Brahms. With this, the wish of one of the members of the NJO to play this work for large chamber music ensemble for an audience, became reality. The work is written for flute, two clarinets, bassoon, horn, violin, viola, cello and double bass.
Besides this beautiful piece by Brahms, they also played the Nonet in F by Spohr. This piece requires almost the same orchestration, although one hobo is needed instead of the second clarinet.
