Programme NJO Winter Tour 2022 announced
18 oktober 2021
Between 22 and 30 January, the National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands will leave on its annual Winter Tour, and there will be a special programme on the music stands in Rotterdam, Nijmegen, Apeldoorn, Utrecht, Kerkrade and The Hague! Registration for the auditions is open, musicians can register until 31 October to play during this tour.
Under the baton of British conductor John Wilson, the selected musicians, together with the Storioni Trio, will perform a forgotten composition by the Hungarian Emanuel Moór, after it was unfortunately canceled last year (during the trio's 25th anniversary). It concerns the Triple Concerto from 1907, which has probably never been performed in the Netherlands before. So a great premiere!
The Storioni Trio
Sergei Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony is also on the programme, which, like Moór's Triple Concerto, saw the light of day in 1907. Rachmaninoff's insecurity, which had arisen after the scathing criticism of his First Symphony, meant that he spent months revising his second symphony. Fortunately, this composition earned him the Glinka Prize and a lot more confidence in his qualities as a composer.
More information about the programme and the performance dates and locations of the NJO Winter Tour can be found in the upcoming events.
