NJO Winter Tour '22: three concerts with public
31 januari 2022
We look back on a very nice NJO Winter Tour, with in the end three concerts taking place with an audience. The only concert that would definitely take place from the start was the AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert ("Friday Concert") on 28 January that would be broadcast live on Radio 4. Thanks to the fantastic efforts of Theater Orpheus, TivoliVredenburg, AVROTROS and Parkstad Limburg Theaters, two more concerts were eventually able to take place. Also, the AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert took place with an audience. This also marked the premiere of Emanuel Moór's Triple Concerto in the Netherlands, performed by the Storioni Trio with the National Youth Orchestra, a dream that had to wait more than a year to come true!
The musicians of the National Youth Orchestra (NJO), conductor John Wilson, assistant conductor Ed Liebregt and the Storioni Trio showed their best side and were all very excited about how the tour turned out. Or, as the concert master of the NJO, Martine Velthuis, put it on the radio: "Every note we play is one, with or without audience, [...] but I love the idea that tonight we can make the audience feel what we feel when we make music." The broadcast of the AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert of 28 January 2022 can be heard via Radio 4 (Dutch only).
Rehearsals in TivoliVredenburg on 27 January 2022 conducted by John Wilson, in preparation for the live radio broadcast of the AVROTROS Vrijdagconcert a day later.
