NJO Wintertournee (geannuleerd)

Unfortunately we had to cancel the NJO Winter Tour 2021. Due to the Dutch COVID-19 measures of 14 December, all theatres are closed until 19 January 2021 and it is not possible for the orchestra to rehearse. We will get to work to see what is possible and when, so keep an eye on this website and our Facebook and Instagram pages!

The National Youth Orchestra of the Netherlands (NJO), led by the passionate Antony Hermus, will perform an adapted programme due to COVID-19 measures. However, you will still experience an outstanding concert. NJO is delighted to invite the renowned Storioni Trio as soloists in this project during the 2020-2021 season, when the group is celebrating its 25th anniversary. The Storioni Trio and the orchestra will together bring a forgotten composition by the Hungarian Emanuel Moór on stage. This Triple Concerto was composed in 1907 and dedicated to Alfred Cortot, Jacques Thibaut and Pablo Casals, who also performed it many times. The piece has almost certainly never been performed in the Netherlands before, but the Storioni Trio has decided to bring it to the stage. NJO is, of course, happy to participate in this superb project.

In addition to this special musical work, NJO will perform Antonín Dvořák’s Sixth symphony. With this "pastoral" symphony which is recognisably influenced by Brahms, Beethoven and Schubert, Dvořák made his way into the international spotlights. The symphony, finished in 1880, is known for its lyrical melodies, performed by woodwind instruments and horns as well as strings, but also for its rich and colourful orchestral sound. Dvořák composed his work for the Vienna Philharmonic and after finishing it he wrote to his publisher: ‘I have made great efforts to produce this […] and it has also given me much pleasure.’
