NJO Brass Ensemble

The NJO Brass Ensemble consists of four horns, four trumpets, two trombones, one bass trombone, two euphoniums, two tubas, a timpanist and a percussionist. Under the direction of conductor Jasper de Waal, this company of seventeen musicians prepares a program together with choreographer/director Vincent Michels and Corpus Acrobatics.

Everything in this performance revolves around water and our relationship with the earth and the world around us. The concerts are therefore performed on and close to water at various locations, including Park Presikhaaf (Arnhem) and the pond at Jachthuis Sint Hubertus (De Hoge Veluwe National Park).

The programme includes (an arrangement of) Händel's Water Music, a piece which was first performed on a raft on the Thames as a backdrop for a dinner on the royal yacht of King George I. Also the heroic piece The Call by composer and first timpanist of the Concertgebouw Orchestra Nick Woud, is part of the programme.
